  • The collection also contains a bill to Andrew Squair [sic] for goods purchased at a the store of Edmund Hamner, 1816, with a note on the verso that Squires has paid in full, 1817 July 29. Items include several purchases of whiskey for Squires by his "girl."
  • The collection also contains an Albemarle County, Va., tax receipt for 1848 for Joseph Campbell, signed by D. Wood as deputy for Sheriff Richard Duke. The receipt notes assessments for land, slaves, horses, carriage, watch, and a clock, plus the additional assesment for the county and poor levy
  • The collection also contains a receipt from the Bank of Scottsville, 1863 June 4, noting that James Hamner has deposited $890, signed by W.D. Davis, cashier
