  • Also a draft letter, 7 July 1803, from John Francis Mercer, regarding U.S. bank policy; a letter, 1 September 1810, from Henry Lee, Stratford, Va., to Thomas Swan, Alexandria, Va., regarding the collection of rent at Chantilly; and an essay, 9 June 1820, by James M. Garnett in response to an essay written by Mathew Carey regarding Virginians and Southerners, slavery, U.S. fiscal policy (tariffs and taxes), growth of manufactures and relations with England and France
